Tuesday evenings during Lent at Sacred Heart parish, 7:00 – 8:45 p.m. in the church – Series of DVDs from Word on Fire Ministries, with group discussion.  What a wonderful opportunity to allow a deeper understanding of the Liturgy of the Mass to draw us closer to our Lord during this holy season! This coming Tuesday we will view an episode entitled “Word Made Flesh, True Bread of Heaven – The Mystery of the Church’s Sacrament and Worship”. Father Barron explores the ancient practices of the Church’s worship that endure to this very day, and the notion that “all value is summed up in the liturgy, the supreme act by which we commune with God.”  Considered by the Catholic Faith to be ―the source and summit‖ of its identity and mission, the Eucharist is the central practice of the Church’s culture. Father Barron describes all the parts of the Mass, and shows how the Sacred Liturgy embodies the whole of the Faith around the world. Participants are invited to stay after viewing the DVD to ask questions and to join in group discussion about applying the messages to our lives of faith.

THANK YOU!  It was a celebration of life, indeed!  Churches from all over the island were represented and banded together to celebrate LIFE!  Our lives and the lives of others are gifts from God!  Click this link to view a 33-minute video entitled “180: 33 minutes That Will Rock Your World“.  This video may not be appropriate for children ages 12 and under.

Christmas Weekend Announcements

In case you missed it, here are the announcements for the weekend of Christmas:

1. There will be no 5:00 p.m. mass on Sunday, New Years Day.

2. Please pick up your January 2012 ministry schedule in the back of the Church.

3. There will be a second collection next week, December 31 and January 1, 2012 in conjunction with the Catholic Relief services effort to help the more than 50,000 people in Philippines who were affected by the severe flooding due to Tropical storm Washi.

4. MPCC’s  “Marriage Night” will be on Friday, January 20th, at 7 p.m. in the church at Sacred Heart parish. The title is “God, Help Us! Making Marriage Work While Raising Our Kids”.   We will have a light dinner in the hall at 6:00, and child care 6:40 to 9:10 p.m.  There are sign-up sheets in the back of the church.

5. There will be no Religious Education classes on January 1 2012.  Classes will resume on January 8, 2012

6. Mandatory parent meeting for those receiving First Holy Communion on January 8, 2012 at 10:15 a.m. at classroom 2B.

Monthly Faith-Sharing

Our monthly small group faith-sharing on the Sunday Scripture readings will be this Monday, December 19th, at 7:00 p.m. in the Sacred Heart conference room.  This is open to all Catholic adults who would like reinforcement in living the faith day to day.

Manoa Christmas Parade

Seats are still available on the MPCC Manoa Christmas Trolley next Saturday, December 10^th as we participate for the 10^th year in the Manoa Christmas Parade.  Join us as walkers distributing candy in the parade or as carolers on our trolley.  More information and sign-up sheets are located in the back of the church.
