UPDATED FEBRUARY 11TH, 2012
Thank you for your continued patience as changes continue to occur within the parish.
Please note that the Confirmation Calendar has now become the “Youth & Young Adult Calendar”
The information is still the same, but the wording has changed. We are now calling classes “sessions”. The “confirmation classes” do not coincide with the Religious Ed or Regular School Year which is why this change has taken place.
For those who volunteered for the February 4th parking fundraiser for the Punahou Carnival – THANK YOU. Your help was greatly appreciated and the hours you worked will be credited toward your confirmation service hours. Keep in mind that even though you finish your 25 hours, 5 extra hours of non-church-affiliated service must be completed AND you must still attend church 2 times a month until the date of your confirmation.
As of today, this page will be the designated form of communication for Confirmation Classes. A link to the calendar will remain at the top of the page for easy access. ANYTHING scheduled on the calendar counts toward attendance.
If you have a Facebook page, please “Like” us: Manoa-Punahou Catholic Community. Other relevant information will also be posted on there and is readily accessible for most people with smartphones/mobile devices.
Should you have any questions, please email Miss Annie.

Click here for the Current Confirmation Calendar.
Please note that all times and locations of classes are subject to change unless otherwise noted. If you have an iPhone or iPad with the GoDocs App, this would be the easiest way to check the latest class times and events.
The January Classes will be scarce as I am still looking for teachers to help me. I will try to be as accurate as possible. Thank you for your patience.

THERE WILL BE NO CLASS ON JANUARY15TH (NEXT WEEK SUNDAY).
If you know of anyone who would be interested in helping teach Confirmation Classes, please let me know.
Right now, I am looking for help filling in the following time slots:
Saturdays from 2pm to 330pm @ St. Pius X
Sunday mornings from 1015am to 1145am @ Sacred Heart
These are potential times for classes. Hopefully the schedule will be updated by the end of the week.

You all should have received an email with the following email message:
Aloha everyone,
As the eve of the New Year approaches I wanted to extend my warmest and happiest New Year wishes to all of you. I trust that you all are having a very good weekend. With that let me say that if you want to save this email for later, it wouldn’t be a bad thing =)
But do let me make a suggestion – PRINT OUT AND/OR SAVE THIS EMAIL. There is a LOT of information important to you and your child’s confirmation process.
I did want to let everyone know that we will be having class NEXT WEEK SUNDAY on January 8th 2012 from 3pm to 430pm. If you are off the island or unable to make it, please don’t panic. As long as you let me know your situation, I will re-schedule a time with you.
THIS WILL ALSO BE A MAKE-SHIFT MEETING – PARENTS IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO SIT IN ON THIS CLASS, IT WOULDN’T BE A BAD IDEA.
There will be a LOT of changes in the new year which is one of my biggest reasons for starting earlier than the calendar originally stated. For those of you who have Facebook and/or Twitter, it might be a good idea to “like” our page (Manoa-Punahou Catholic Community) or follow us on Twitter @manoapunahou.
Any updates or announcements will be posted on there as well as our www.mp-cc.net website.
As far as immediate business, there are a few things I need to address:
#1 – There will be a new fee of $20 per student. This is in payment for a new “textbook” (the new Youth Catechism). The book is $16 and the rest will go into the Youth & Young Adult Ministry budget to help with other costs we’ve incurred. Checks can be made out to Sacred Heart Church, otherwise, please submit cash payments in a sealed envelope.
#2 – There are TWO functions the same weekend: 1) There is another Praise & Worship night on Friday, January 20th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. 2) Sunday, January 22nd is a MANDATORY function – the March for Life at the State Capitol from 1pm to 4pm.
**TRANSPORTATION WILL BE ARRANGED ACCORDING TO HOW MANY PEOPLE CAN MAKE IT**
PLEASE let me know if you ARE or ARE NOT coming to ONE or BOTH of these things. I NEED TO KNOW ASAP. If you’ve been missing classes – both days are GREAT opportunities to make up your absences.
#3 – The Confirmation Calendar & Requirements will be changing. Due to the busy-ness of the school year, I have decided to add extra classes each month during the weeknights as well as have functions during the summer. ALL of these classes are OPEN TO THE PUBLIC – meaning it will be hosted under the Youth & Young Adult Ministry name. Topics will be assigned to each day/night and it will be your responsibility to attend the required number of classes given. The new Calendar and requirements will be done and posted by January 8th. This will be further explained at the class/meeting on January 8th as well.
With a New Year comes new things. I thank all of you for your continued patience and cooperation, and I hope all of you have a very fun and safe New Year’s Eve. Wishing all of you the best in 2012!
